University of North Texas at Dallas Legislative Town Hall

The Dallas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc will be hosting a Legislative Town Hall with state elected officials to highlight legislative successes and provide guidance for community engagement.

House District 101 Town Hall - Arlington

Join State Representative Chris Turner for a town hall update on the 88th Legislative and Special Sessions.
He will discuss legislative successes, property taxes, the next highly likely special session on public education, and will take your questions.

House District 100 Legislative Town Hall

Join State Representative Venton Jones for a House District 100 Legislative Town Hall on Wednesday, September 20th at 6:30PM.

He will provide an update from the 88th Legislative Session and discuss public education and the upcoming special session on vouchers coming this Fall.

Teachers at TribFest Meet Up- Panels on “School Choice

You are invited to meet Raise Your Hand Texas on Congress Avenue in Austin on Saturday, September 23rd for Open Congress at The Texas Tribune Festival – all for free and open to everyone, no Festival ticket needed! Join us for any of our events, but especially for the event to appreciate teachers and listen to your thoughts at 10:30 a.m. after the panel.  

 

We invite teachers to join Raise Your Hand Texas to share your thoughts about the panel and how to be involved during the upcoming special legislative session. We will also have some special swag for teachers. We hope you will invite other teachers that you know!

Vouchers and the Upcoming Session Town Hall

Join us on Sunday, September 24th, at the South Austin Rec Center for an important Town Hall event! Representatives Gina Hinojosa and James Talarico, alongside a panel of community stakeholders, will delve into the future of public education and the forthcoming special session on school choice.

This event will be an opportunity to explore how school vouchers will impact our county from community leaders and education experts, and how you can get involved and safeguard our public schools.

Dallas Public Education Town Hall 

State Representative Jessica Gonzalez is hosting a Public Education Town Hall on September 27th at Rosemont Lower Elementary School. Everyone is welcome to attend to learn more about the state of our public schools ahead of the upcoming special session on public education and school vouchers.

 

The town hall will include State Representatives Jessica González, Ana-Maria Ramos, Toni Rose, Carl Sherman, John Bryant, and DISD Trustee Ben Mackey. Your voice matters, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Community Townhall Luncheon with Representative Shelby Slawson

This in-person event will be held at 1206 West Avenue B, Copperas Cove, TX, USA. It's a chance to learn more about current legislation, health benefits, small business, and economic growth.

This is a Q&A event, so It's a good opportunity to show up and ask Representative Slawson to clarify her position on vouchers in the state of Texas.

 Join the Rally For Public Schools on October 6th from 3-5 p.m. at Representative Button's Office! Let's unite with constituents, advocates for public education, and community members to tell Representative Angie Button: Say NO to vouchers, and YES to public education funding! Together, we can protect our schools' future.

Boot Vouchers Rally

Join educators and parents, grandparents and students, and community allies, at the Texas Capitol on October 7th, 12pm CST for a rally to Boot Vouchers and support funding our neighborhood public schools!

This rally is an attempt to show the public that Governor Abbott’s claim that all Texans want vouchers is not true.  We would like to put a massive number of people on the south lawn for this to show the world that his agenda does not benefit public schools.

Rooted Texas San Antonio Public Education Policy 101 Webinar

The Governor has called a Special Session for Monday, Oct. 9th at 1:00 p.m. focusing on public education.  Join us for a webinar to better understand the issues that will be front and center for the upcoming special session and how you can get involved!

The League of Women Voters of Dallas will be holding their October Unit Meeting on School Vouchers on October 17th at 11:30 A.M. at the Hudson House Restaurant at 4040 Abrams Rd., Dallas 75214.
